The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney’s New Band Sad Planets Announces Debut Album, Shares Lead Single [Listen]

first_imgWith the The Black Keys still on an indefinite hiatus, drummer Patrick Carney and John Petkovic of Cobra Verde, Sweet Apple, and Death Of Samantha have announced the formation of their new band, Sad Planets. Sad Planets’ debut album, Akron, Ohio, is due out on April 19th via Tee Pee Records.On the new album, Petkovic plays guitar and handles lead vocals, while Carney plays drums and other added percussion instruments and synths. The album was recorded in Carney’s studio in Akron, and a press release calls the sessions “a celebration of their friendship.” Carney and Petkovic are both Akron, Ohio natives, though the former has moved to Nashville and the latter now resides in Cleveland. J Mascis, the Dinosaur Jr. frontman who also plays with Petkovic in Sweet Apple, makes a guest appearance on the forthcoming 10-track release.Petkovic explains in a press statement, “I saw it as a chance to work with a longtime friend, but also an opportunity to reconnect with Akron in a very different way.”The duo has shared Akron, Ohio’s lead single, “Not Of This World”, which you can listen to below:Sad Planets – “Not Of This World”Head here to pre-order Sad Planet’s forthcoming release Akron, Ohio.You can check out the album art and tracklist below.Akron, Ohio Tracklist:01. first_imgThe University of Georgia Griffin campus will hold its inaugural Dawg Dash 5K on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m. on the campus located at 1109 Experiment Street in Griffin, Georgia. Registration is available at dawgdash2019.eventbrite.com and the entry fee is $20 if preregistered by Nov. 13. Late or event day registration is $25. Participants who sign up by Thursday, Oct. 31, will receive an official Dawg Dash 5K T-shirt. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Griffin-Spalding County United Way and UGA-Griffin.
