FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State’s Micah Larkins and Houston Baptist’s Scott Boon are the Southland Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Southland Athletes of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank.The award marks the second of the season for Larkins after the senior competed at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. Larkins took first place overall in the 100-meter dash with a 10.11 time while also boosting the Demons to a fourth-place team finish in the 4x100m relay with a 40.22 clip.Boon, a freshman, took on the field in the decathlon for Houston Baptist also at the Texas Relays. He concluded the event with an eighth-place individual finish after compiling 7,207 points.Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week – Micah Larkins, Northwestern State – Sr. – Princeton, La.Won the 100m dash finals with the third-best current time in the country of 10.11. He ranks 8th in the West region and 9th nationally. His effort earned him a program record in the pole vault (4.70m/15-5.0) to go with improved PRs in the javelin (50.27m/164-11) and the 100m dash (11.14).Honorable Mention: Kai Schmidt, Abilene Christian; Branson Ellis, Stephen F.
