A provincial tender called for paving in the Chester area of Lunenburg County will result in a smoother, stronger road for local motorists. The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for tenders to pave East Wind Drive, from the intersection of Haddon Hill Road at Robinsons Corner to the intersection of West Wind Drive. The project is being co-funded by the province and the Municipality of Chester. “The department is working closely with municipalities to determine paving priorities,” said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. “This co-operation helps us deliver top-notch road improvements for Nova Scotians.” The Department of Transportation and Public Works’ highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
